TITLE: Mystical Man, Mystical Mountain: Thoreau, Katahdin and the Transformation of Consciousness. A multi-media interactive discussion

The Wabanaki Indians speak of receiving advice from “the Spirit of Katahdin.” Thoreau speaks of enjoying fellowship with the spirits of the woods. What is this idea of communicative spirits that only a few can hear, or even know are there? Thoreau climbed Katahdin and experienced a life-changing epiphany which he describes in the “Contact Passage” in his essay “Ktaadn”. Connie and Andrew will present the concept of an expanded reality where “phenomena” exist beyond the realm of the left-brain and traditional science which has been the domain of the indigenous peoples and the mystics of the world for millennia. They will present tools for opening our hearts and minds to the unseen forces known to cutting-edge quantum scientists as aspects of an all-pervading consciousness, which Connie and Andrew call the “Conscious Loving Universe” in their book “THE TRUST FREQUENCY: Ten Assumptions for a New Paradigm.”

Andrew Cameron Bailey and Connie Baxter Marlow are visionary filmmakers, futurists and social philosophers who bring forth a new perspective on the nature of reality. Coming from divergent life experiences, they have reached similar conclusions: the prevailing paradigm is missing important information. They challenge a number of basic assumptions which have driven humanity’s behavior for millennia. Their book: “THE TRUST FREQUENCY: Ten Assumptions for a New Paradigm” offers an indigenous cosmology/quantum science synthesis to aid in the understanding of the reality Thoreau, indigenous peoples, Eastern mystics and others experience that exists outside of the prevailing paradigm. Thoreau’s conclusion to “Walden” plays a seminal role in accessing The Trust Frequency.

Connie has been bringing the mystical Thoreau to the table for decades. It began with her discovery that Thoreau resonated to the indigenous worldview “could see what they could see,” and knew that they have something to bring to humanity now. Having spent 10 years with visionary Native American elders, Connie had insights into the indigenous connection to an expanded reality, and in the late 90s Brad Dean’s articulation of Thoreau’s mystical nature gave credence to her discoveries. She produced the DVD series “THE AMERICAN EVOLUTION: Voices of America” in 2004 in which Brad Dean (Thoreau Scholar), Richard Smith (Thoreau impersonator/Interpreter), Arnie Neptune (Penobscot elder) and others bring forth the mystical Thoreau and the mystical nature of Katahdin, sacred mountain of the Wabanaki. She went on to create three theatrical readings which she and Andrew have performed at Thoreau Society Annual Gatherings since 2000: “Thoreau the Futurist and the Emerging Human” featuring Thoreau and his Indian guide Joseph Polis; “Thoreau and Einstein: Two Mystics Who Changed the World” and “Thoreau and Einstein: Science and the Cosmic Order.”

Connie is author of the book of photographs “GREATEST MOUNTAIN: Katahdin’s Wilderness” which features quotes from her visionary great-grand uncle Percival P. Baxter who gifted Baxter State Park to the people of Maine, and a piece by Arnie Neptune on “The Spirit of Katahdin”

Andrew, a former science professor, social anthropologist, filmmaker, author and futurist has been actively seeking the shift that will move humanity into its highest potential for over five decades. He is currently working on a documentary film about the role of 60s in the upward spiral of consciousness transformation. He is co-author of “THE TRUST FREQUENCY: Ten Assumptions for a New Paradigm” and director of the companion film “IN SEARCH OF THE FUTURE: What do the Wise Ones Know.”
